Most of the artwork around the house is Jan's . She lived in Philadelphia for years and was part of the art scene there. However, a few of my friends are/were artists, so here's a sample of their work.

Anthony Quinn is a high-end wine importer in Virginia. He spent several years of his life soul-searching in Paris, making engraved plates. For a few years he's been revisiting the plates he did back then, and painting them in different ways. This one was given to me by my friends Peter and Jim, who introduced me to Tony. Recently, he's been cranking out a huge collection of black and white paintings, some 10-20 per night.

Jim is a fellow computer geek who happens to do really nice paintings. I really like his taste of colors (you can't tell from this picture!). He never wants to part with his paintings, so I'm only borrowing them. Sometimes, when he really misses them, I trade him the ones I have for some other paintings he's done.

Anne Brownstein is a childhood friend of mine, and this was a a birthday present from her. It reads "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FREND JOHN AND HIS ELECTRIC GUITAR" (the misspelling is on purpose).

Klee isn't a friend of mine, but this is one of my favorite paintings, so I'm including it here anyway. His other paintings don't do that much for me, but for some reason this "Head of man" strikes me in some way.

BTW, I'm no artist, but I enjoy -- as much as anyone -- mucking around in Photoshop and Fractal Design Painter. I've placed a modified photograph of myself in the top right of most of the pages at this site. This was mainly to give me an excuse to play with graphics programs...
