TILE is a World-Wide-Web authoring program that works in conjunction with Lotus Notes. It was originally written by two programmers I hired, and then eventually I became the sole programmer of the project. The letters TILE originally stood for "The Internet Lotus Exchange", but after releasing TILE, Lotus soon told us we could not use their copyright in our name, so we shortened the name to just "TILE", which I prefer anyhow. One interesting point, when Lotus finally released a followup program to their abysmal "InterNotes" program (which crashed all the time), they gave a name very reminiscent of TILE, they called it "Domino". A strange coincidence. We joked that our next product would be called "Mahjongg", in order to keep this one-upmanship going with the tile/domino naming scheme. This whole site, as well as the Astor Piazzolla Database, JS Bach Home Page, the Doris Lessing Home Page, (and many, many others 'round the world) were created with TILE. These days, Lotus Domino (notice the name similarly with TILE?) has pretty much taken over this application category. Since Domino has taken over the market, we no longer sell TILE and have pulled it from the market.
