Washingtoon
Washingtoon is a political satire comic that deals with the buffoonery of American politics. The drawings are crude, drawn with heavy black lines.
Washingtoon is the 20th century version of Swift's "A Modest Proposal" - extreme, incredible propositions are presented as realistic events, as a manner of exposing the ridiculousness of a situation.
My favorite of the two books I own - this one tells the story of congressman Forehead, from his humble beginnings as a television salesman for glow-in-the-dark coat-hangers, to his election to congress with the support of Gerard Oxboggle, president of Glominoid Corporation. A collection of Reagan-era comics, for those who wish to revisit the beginning of an era.
Note that Mark Alan Stamaty has written and drawn a great deal for Slate Magazine. A search for his name at www.slate.com will find you several dozen articles.
