In the first two weeks I owned my lute, I had not yet taken any lessons, and worked on making basic controlled notes with the instrument.
. . .
WEEK 1
Basic learning how to make sounds.

Rose Red, possibly the simplest, easiest lute piece there is. but quite pleasant.

A very simple slow piece: good as the first thing to learn, to get you used to playing two notes at once.
. . .
WEEK 2

Another simple piece ("Dance" by Newsidler), not as easy as Passamezo, but still quite simple. Toward the end you get to fret the 6th string for a chord, which takes some getting used to. Still, easy, since there are never more than two notes played at once.

Oaken Leaves, another very simple piece. Note: there appear to be some errors in this version of the piece.
